Caliban in The Tempest

#106346

Description

This booklet is designed for KS3, and has been created on Power Point. Each Power Point slide prints out as an A4 page, so this can be photocopied as a booklet. The focus is exclusively on the character of Caliban, so this booklet does not offer a comprehensive study of the whole play. I have benefited from the work shared by Kat Howard @saysmiss on The Tempest, and have been influenced by her approach. The plot summary I include at the beginning came from someone else, I don't know who, and I have edited it. But, thank you! At the back of the booklet, are some quizzes on the context which could be printed out separately and revisited. I have also included a page at the end of the booklet with some of the sources I read. Alongside this booklet, students watch 'The Animated Tales' version of the play (which is bonkers, but fun!), and read the abridged version of the play using the script form of 'The Animated Tales - The Tempest'. It is to the introduction of this version of the play that I refer in the first task dealing with the theatre in Shakespeare's day and the playwright himself.
