An interform competition that I'm running based on the ideas from Alex Quigley's book 'Closing the vocabulary gap'
Students asses prior knowledge
Are taught the break down of the words via 'root' woods/prefix.
Students demonstrate their understanding of the word then complete 'Frayer model'
Students then have a week to learn the spellings of the word and will then be asked to sit a spelling test. Tutor will collect the spelling total for each student and add them together.
The team with the highest amount of correct spellings at the end of term wins.
